Hello My Friend/Foe Hello my friend Hello my friend Hello my friend Did you really think your life would never end? Hello my foe Hello my foe Hello my foe Did you really think that you would never go? Hello my friend Did you really think your life would never end?

Bundoora Stars Bundoora Stars are bright tonight Dark like this is hard to fight When you lie down next to me Bundoora Stars are all you’ll see Bundoora Stars don’t ask why? We do the things that we don’t like Drifting back to what we know Are we afraid to let love show?

Not The Only One Wake up from your slumber Don’t snooze Don’t go back under You’re afraid of the rising sun You are not the only one Get up face the day The more you talk The less you say Wait wait wait for the words to come You are not the only one The world keens spinning Round and round It won’t let up it won’t slow down When you realize that it goes on You are not the only one I know

23 Minutes In Montmorency Big red lips on her mouth Stop the words from falling out 23 minutes in Montmorency Killing time before it kills me Same seat sitters going home Headphones sing leave me alone Loud phone talkers they don’t care About the little tiny pinholes in the sky out there Get me out of here
5.
Rock And Roll Girl She didn’t know about Big Star She’d never heard Back Of A Car And that was a fact Could he live with that Rock and roll girl He didn’t care what she looked like Until he dropped the needle that night And he was attracted to the way she reacted Rock and roll girl Rock and roll girl Now when she sees him out in the street She stomps on the fuzz and stares at her feet And when it gets loud he disappears in the crowd Rock and roll girl Rock and roll girl Rock and roll girl Rock and roll girl

How I Feel 06:36
How I Feel Here we are in a car Driving slow, more stop than go I need to tell you how I feel I need to tell you how I feel Sun don’t shine all the time Clouds they come and steal our fun I need to tell you how I feel I need to tell you how I feel I need to tell you how I feel I need to tell you how I feel
7.
Get Your Hands Off That Thing Get your hands off that thing Won’t you leave it alone Get your hands off that thing Come on hang with me Get your hands off that thing Put it down my friend Get your hands off that thing And break out of your skin Because it really doesn’t matter what they think about you It really doesn’t matter if they mock and hurt you Just get your hands off that thing
8.
Take It 05:23
Take It Friday night all around the oval People shout come on, come on Get it out, get it out to someone who can use it Horns honk when they get a goal Get up high when you’re feeling low While the bridge in the corner Creaks and moans when you cross it Take it When you can All night long You saw a snake on the concrete path You freak out but there’s nothing you need to worry about It’s not going to hurt you There was a fire behind the old playground Police came, gasoline can was found Some dirty rotten scoundrel set about to destroy it Take it When you can All night long
9.
Heart In Your Head You don’t speak before you think You calculate everything But when you lie down You can hear the sound It’s your heart in your head If it’s wrong you will know When you’re right you won’t let go If you skip a beat You will find your feet With your heart in your head Heart in your head mechanical Heart in your head leaves a hole If you’re inclined to hesitate Go now do not procrastinate Set your feelings free Let them part company With your heart in your head
10.
Ride Around The Sun Ride around the sun A trip for everyone Do you want to come? On a ride around the sun Get out of your bead Be thankful you’re not dead Take a look around There are many in the ground Ride around the sun Don’t disappear Because the universe is queer The world is small And you are tall Ride around the sun Ride around the sun

about

Basement Spaceman return with their sleepy worldview. Stacked with local references, time shifting riffs and hypnotic dub inspired foundations, the new album ‘For Those Afraid Of The Rising Sun’ is due for release September 15th 2018.

The first single ‘Not The Only One’ rides a familiar wave of semi-consciousness.
“Wake up from your slumber…” sung, with an early morning voice, a fitting introduction to the dreamy sonics and hidden layers waiting on their new set of songs.

Basement Spaceman are based in Eltham, Victoria. Their debut self-titled album was released in 2013 and since then they have released 3EPs. Much of 2017 & 2018 was spent writing and recording ‘For Those Afraid Of The Rising Sun’ which presents as a departure from their earlier work, exploring a ride through sleep and the shock of waking up. Hummable melodies underpinned by complex themes and hidden musical moments that can only be detected on multiple listens.
